Editorial - I'd Really Like to but my hands are tied

"Somebody's hands are tied" Unable to act freely because something (such as a rule or law) prevents it. Though don't we tend to use this term more often as an excuse than because of a real restriction? It seems we have misunderstood its original meaning in this globalised world full of opportunities, freedom and an extended access to education and information, where we are less restricted tan ever.
